Q: How to create a tax class?   — Southern Finland (Magento Open Source)
A: With Magento 2.x, you must first create a tax rule. While you're in that process, you can create new tax rules. In the user guide, see the instructions in Step 2 of Tax Rules.


Q: There is no info on where “Product uses Decimals” can be located in M2.   — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: The setting is actually “Qty uses Decimals.” You can do a search from the user guide to find the page. For an exact match, make sure to enclose it in quotes.

In Magento 2.x, the “Qty uses Decimals” setting is located in Advanced Inventory. When a product is open in edit mode, you’ll find the Advanced Inventory link below the Quantity field. In the M2.x user guide, the instructions are on the Managing Inventory page, under “Method 2: With Stock Management.”


Q: How to edit the wording on the button text in the cookie overlay? — Germany (Magento Open Source)
A: You can use the Translate Inline tool in developer mode to edit the text labels in the interface.


Q: It seems that [Terms and Conditions] option isn't available anymore in 2.2.2. Or is there a magento module, which has to be active? If so, it really doesn't hurt to add that as a notice. — Switzerland (Magento Open Source)
A: Terms and Conditions isn’t enabled by default. If you’re using a new installation of Magento 2.2.2 or later, follow the instructions in the user guide to enable Terms and Conditions for each store in your installation.


Q: Can virtual products be used for bookable items like room and venue rentals? — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: Yes, however your store will most likely need additional features to manage the details that are associated with room and venue rentals. There are quite a few Booking and Reservation extensions on Magento Marketplace that will transform your store into a full-featured booking and reservation system.


Q: There is no “CMSContent Management System: A software system that is used to create, edit, and maintain content on a website. Page Hierarchy in General / Content Management at all. — Hungary (Magento Open Source)
A: It looks like you’re in the wrong user guide. Page hierarchy is a feature of Magento Commerce (Enterprise), but is not included in Magento Open Source (Community). Here’s a link to the Magento Open Source User Guide.


Q: Where is the link to the pdf manual??? — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: There are several ways to find the pdf version of the user guide.

These instructions are the same for every version of Magento.

  • Under Getting Started, choose About This Guide. Then, click the PDF User Guide link.
  • Under Reference, choose Archive. Then, click the link for the version that you need.
  • In the Search box, type “user guide.” In the first result, click the link to About This Guide.
  • In response to this question, there is now a link on the Getting Started page to About This Guide.


Q: How is the price field handled for group products? — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: A grouped product is a set of separate simple products. Grouped products do not have pricing options because the price of each item is managed from the associated product.


Q: I need to know if images can go all the way to the border ("bleed" in the print world) and I can't find any answers!! — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: The dimensions of the image container are determined by your themeA package that contains graphics and appearance information, and customizes the look and feel of the store., and the amount of white space is determined by the theme's CSSCascading Style Sheets: A style sheet language that controls the appearance of HTML documents; a way to control the appearance of text, graphics, lists, links, and all other elements on a web page. properties and the dimensions of the image that you upload. You might look at some of the themes on Magento Marketplace. There are a few with good examples of images that bleed to the edge of the main content area, as well as to the edge of the product image container.

You might also be able to achieve the effect that you want with an image slider.

For best results, the aspect ratio of the uploaded product images should be the same as the container. The image should also be 3x the size of the container, so it can be zoomed.


Q: How can I change the main menu for a second store? I see how I can create another menu, but where do I add it? — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: After creating a new root category and setting up a categoryA set of products that share particular characteristics or attributes. structure for its menu, you must add it to the profile of the second store. Go to Stores > Settings > All Stores, and follow the instructions in the user guide to create a new store. You’ll find the answer to your question in Step 2 - #2c, where you choose the root category that contains the menu for the store.


Q: Put a search bar in!!!!! — Australia (Magento Open Source)
A: The Search box is on every page in the right-hand corner of the header, marked with a magnifying glass. We actually have a very robust search. To learn more, see: How to Use this Guide. You didn't include your email address in your feedback, so I hope you see this!


Q: How can I go up to the main menu? — Japan (Magento Commerce)
A: The main menu is at the top of every page with the following options: Getting Started, Products, Marketing, Content, Customers, Sales, Reports, Operations, and Reference. If you click the each of these options, you’ll find a table of contents for the section. The mini TOC in the shaded gray box lists any additional “child” pages related to the current page. There’s a Next link in the upper-right corner of every page, that you can use to page through the content in sequence. You can also use the “jump lists,” which have thumbnail illustrations, links, and a brief descriptions, as “jumping off” places to related topics.


Q: Where do I enter the Google AdWords conversionA marketing term that indicates a goal has been reached. If the goal is to sell a product, conversion is reached when a visitor to your site becomes a buyer. script? United States — (Magento Commerce)
A: To complete the configuration, simply copy the settings from your AdWords script to your Magento store's Google AdWords configuration. Magento uses the information from the configuration to track conversions from the "Success" page that appears after each sale. It is not necessary to copy your Google  AdWords script to the "Success" page of your store, because Magento already has the information.


Q: Define the word Ogone as there is ZERO reference as to what that word means. — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: Ogone is a European payment solution, and is described on the Payment Gateways page under Integrated Solutions. I’ll also add a link to the Order Status page to explain the references.


Q: There's no section on Website Restrictions which should be in the Store configuration in the General tab. — United States (Magento Open Source)
A: You can find Website Restrictions in the user guide under Developer Client Restrictions (Operations > System > Tools> Developer Tools) and in the Configuration Reference under Advanced > Developer > Developer Client Restrictions.


Q: This page (Disabled Modules Output) is just a list of settings. It doesn't explain what each of them does .— United Kingdom (Magento Open Source)
A: The user guide doesn't go into detail about technical subjects. For introductory information about Magento modules, see Module Overview in the developer documentation.


Q: On Table Rates page it says "must provide a valid 3-letter code for country." You folk need to provide a list of these 3-letter codes somewhere and a link to it. — Australia (Magento Commerce)
A: Thanks for the suggestion! We added a link to a Wikipedia article with a list of the current codes from Aruba to Zimbabwe.


Q: There is no Delete Attribute button. — United States (Magento Commerce)
A: To see the Delete Attribute button, you must first open the attributeA characteristic or property of a product; anything that describes a product. Examples of product attributes include color, size, weight, and price. in edit mode. It’s in the upper-right next to the Save Attribute button.


Q: I am trying to find the template for .csv file to upload, but this page provides no clue. — United Kingdom (Magento Commerce)
A: To ensure that the column headings can be read by Magento, we recommend that you first export the data from your store as a CSVComma Separated Values: A type of file used to store data values which are separated from each other by commas. file. Q: There doesn't seem to be an individual setup configuration for checkout, only Checkout Option. — United States (Magento Commerce)
A: There are actually quite a few checkout-related configuration settings. The best place to start is at the beginning of the Checkout section. You can configure the Guest Checkout, Terms and Conditions, One Page Checkout, Checkout Totals Sort Order, and Gift Options.
