Creating a Return Shipment

If the return shipment is managed by the customer, the tracking number (or numbers) of the shipment to the RMA request can be added from the store. Tracking numbers that added from the store are is visible in the Admin.

Shipping Label Workflow
  • Shipping label is requested for an authorized return. When the RMA request reaches the Authorized status, the shipping label options for the return shipment appear on the General Information tab. The store administrator clicks the Create Shipping Label button.

    If necessary, the labels for a single shipment can be multiple times. When you request a new shipping label, the old shipping label and tracking numbers are deleted and replaced with new ones.

    Magento sends the request to carrier. Magento connects to the shipping carrier system and requests the label. In the shipment order, the customer shipping address (from the original order) is used as sender address, and the store address is used as receiver address. The store address that is used is determined by the RMA Settings in the configuration.

    Carrier sends the shipping label and tracking number. The carrier receives the shipment order and sends the shipping label PDF with tracking number, if applicable.

    Label becomes available as a download in the customer account. Magento receives the labels and makes them available in the customer’s account.

    The customer downloads and prints the label. The customer downloads the PDF label from the dashboard of their customer account. To learn more, see: Shipping Labels.
